|I am feeling very uninspired.... You know the old saying that ignorance is bliss, well that is how I feel about dinner these days, and lunch, and breakfast!! Now that I know all these health reasons not to eat this and that and the other, I just feel discouraged. My husband likes very plain fair. That is OK most of the time, but with my diet restrictions, it is becoming more and more of a chore to cater to everyone in the house. Does anyone have suggestions? How do most of you cook great meals that are healthy and not BORING?|
Honestly I do have this problem at times ~ and I am a woman who loves to cook! But sometimes that old feeling of just not wanting to bother creeps in. I have found, for me, the best thing I can do when I feel like that is to forge ahead full steam anyway. Because if I don't make myself do it...then I won't do it, kwim? I just grab my determination, make myself set a pretty table, make myself pull a good meal togther and then once all is said and done I'm so glad that I did.ReplyDelete
As for diet restrictions, I deal with that too. What I try to do is make a main dish that everyone can eat and then have several sides to include everyone's taste. So I usually end up making a meat, a starch, a vegetable and a salad. Sometimes a bread as well but not every night. I try to to have a homemade dessert each Sunday. This way, everyone has *something* they like they can put on their plate. If they don't want the starch (me) there is still a veggie and salad as sides. If they don't want the salad (son) there is still two or three other sides to choose from and so on and so forth. So, that is my current formula for getting everyone fed and having a dignified table set even when I don't feel like it. Just keep on keeping on!
Thank you Mrs. V! I will forge ahead and try your suggestions...ReplyDelete
