A Mothers Reverie

We are officially one week away from Savanah being married! Today I am feeling sad about that and I am sure that is normal..... but all of a sudden it feels like time has slipped away.... My child is officially grown and things are about to change in a big way.

There will be no more waking up and checking on her to make sure she is in her bed where she is supposed to be. (Yes I still do that)  Because she will be moving 12 or more hours away there won't even be weekly visits with her. I'm sure there will be many phone conversations but truly, it just will never be the same... and today my heart is breaking...

xoxo,
Amy Jo

  1. All 3 of my daughters have moved away and now have families of their own. We speak daily and plan visits regularly, we have even had holidays together. Think of it as gaining a son and include him in all your plans, it will get easier. Hope that helps!

  2. Amy Jo,
This is such a bittersweet post! I can't imagine my little girl, who's only 7 being grown up, married and moving away.... but, that's what we raise them up for the Lord to do, right? Your daughter is going to make a lovely wife and mother one day, because that's what she grew up seeing you do. Your legacy will be carried on through generations! My heart goes out to you with both happiness and a bit of melancholy! By the way, your family is just beautiful! Your are very blessed indeed!

  3. Thank you both for your kind words... It helps knowing others have been through this and it is the normal cycle of life...I am sure this week I will be so busy I won't have time to reflect on it much...but today in the quietness it just kind of hit me.
Blessings and love to you both,
    Amy Jo

  6. I am on the other side of the world than my dear mother too. It is hard, but with Skype, we can see each other face to face and talk. Plus it is free :) I hope you are able to try it!

  7. Amy Jo, first of all I can't believe you have a daughter old enough to be married, and she is a very beautiful girl. It is so hard to let them go, but that is what you raised them for. Just think how special the times will be when you do get to see them. Easy for me to say as mine is only 4 hours away but it's still hard. Thank you for your kind words to me and it's good to be back in touch..Happy Weekend..Judy

  8. Amy Jo,
Now the relationship changes and you become FRIEND and mom. In a whole new way, you represent wisdom, comfort, love and confidant, it will be different for sure, but it will still be special. Next thing you know you'll be Grandma! So go ahead and mourn the loss of your little girl, but not too long because you have a new journey to take with your grown up daughter!!!
    Love You Always,
    Aunt Teresa

I will tell you a little secret, I worry about my grown up son too when he is in town...But here is the deal, you don't worry as much when they live out of town...You know how you hear about an accident on I-4 and you think is Savannah on I- 4 now...Well that doesn't happen when she lives hours away. And she my be back...Life has a lot of twists and turns
