Birthday Cake and A Big Fat Fail

If only this ad were true! LOL  It is time for my update.....and it isn't pretty girls. I gained a pound.....Now wait I know what your thinking....but I can explain, I started off so well...Following plan to the letter..... then the monthly hormones hit.... and my husband, dear sweet man that he is, brought me home my favorite. JR Mints... Can a girl turn that down...right at the time when you are craving chocolate? So it broke rhythm....

And then it was time for Frank's Birthday dinner at his Mom's. She made Pork Chop's , Biscuits and Gravy. Then there was some cake to follow....It would have been so rude to refuse!

We had the best time. I bought Frank a Yeti cooler. He loved it! Happiness abounded, even amongst failure. Now this week will be better...I am getting back on the horse and riding again ....

Blessings and Love,

A Tiny Update on My Laundry Room

The laundry room is coming along very nicely.... I am the only thing slowing the process. This little book shelf was a minty green, I painted it pink. Big Shocker! I love my 1950's duck nursery lamp. (chalk ware)

I wanted a new laundry hamper. So I scoured around going to Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, TJ Maxx, Pierre One, all to find a big fat 0! Nothing that I liked. So I went online, which of course I should have done in the first place. I found this vintage laundry basket with rolling wheels. I am going to make it a liner. I am very happy with it. And I can just roll it over to the washer and then roll it back. Yeah for simplicity! That is your tiny update.. When all is done I will show you the rest.....

Trim Healthy Mama and a Baptism.....

O.K these two pictures are in the opposite order.  Our future son-in-law got rebaptized....

He didn't feel he understood what he was doing the first time... because he was very young so he asked my husband to baptize him again..... So we rejoice in this blessing. It is wonderful when a soul is added to the heavenly roster.

We have been knee deep in wedding plans with only five months left until the big day!!! With that said I know that I would like to lose about 15 pounds before all of the parties and feasting...and PICTURES!  Yikes...... Well way back in May I bought the Trim Healthy Mama Book and I was really jazzed up about it. Telling all of my family and friends. Well they have had great success and I well...... I have been less than diligent. O. K. a LOT less diligent than them.... If you haven't heard about this book you should really look into it. These to sisters wrote this book over a five year span. And I know it works, my Aunt has lost 22 pounds in just  a couple of months, my friend Julie is at a weight she hasn't seen in a while. Down to a 119 pounds!  I lost 4  pounds in a week..... all very healthfully. You can got to Gwen's Nest or Stacy Makes Cents, to read full reviews and look at recipes and tips on this book.

So why am I telling you my dear readers all of this? Well I want you to be my accountability partner! If I know I have to check in with you next Sunday and let you know how I am doing, I am hoping it will keep me motivated. So today is my first check in...and I am nervous about the whole thing but here goes my dignity LOL.....

5'3
135 Pounds....... Hoping to be around 120....in five months.

So my dear little accountability partners here it starts and next Sunday I will talk more about this little journey.....

Blessings,
Amy Jo

Some Finds and Re "Redoing" the Laundry Room

Here
This is Christy Repasy's latest release. I got it about a week ago..... I just love it!! It is the inspiration piece for redoing the laundry room. I haven't been happy with the laundry since we redid it back in October of last year. You can read about that here.

I also got this beautiful doorstop while we were in Plains, GA this past weekend. The price was excellent. Considering what some of these cost. I just love it!!

A shot of the laundry room all cleared out......ready for a renovation.... I will update you soon!

Labor Day Weekend

We went to Georgia to spend the weekend with my nephew. It was his 21st Birthday.

They look a little to happy to sacrifice their lives for ice cream. LOL

Everyone rode horses.

Enjoying the ride.....

It was a big joke how Cody had ponies, balloons, and candles for his 21st birthday.

Opening his presents.

My sister and Cody....Her oldest.  I think this is making us old Amber. What do you think?

This was all at Kayleigh's house his girlfriend. They put on a nice party for Cody. Kayleigh's Dad got stuck with all of the young people at his house. LOL They loved staying there.

Good Food!

Happy Birthday to You!!

I hope every single dream and wish comes true!!  We love this boy more than can ever be told.  He is a hard working Fire Fighter.....and a very wonderful man....(I am a little biased)

So that was our wonderful weekend.... How was yours?

A Cottage Shelf For The Bathroom

This week I have been working on a few projects. One was this shelf which was painted tobacco Brown.....ewwww. After a few coats of Old White..... it is like new!

I love it with my floral collection on it! It's hanging in our bathroom. This is only the second thing I have done in there since we remodeled.;...I am slow. I think it  adds just the right cottage flair...

I hope you are all blessed today.

Levi's First Day and A Closing

We made a decision to put Levi in a Christian school.....Savanah graduated a couple of years back and he was tired of being an only child at home all day....He asked if he could go.

So Monday was his 1st day. He is loving it so far.... I hope it stays that way as they really push the kids....

In other news I have decided to close my booth at the antique mall. Although I was selling a lot of stuff, I was not making as good as I would have liked. The owner was discounting everything without permission. Even when firm was written. So I decided to leave instead of causing a scene.... Maybe one day I will try again....but it will be a while.  So what will I be doing without a booth and no homeschooling? Well we still have a septic business to run and I still have a home to clean....and I have a lot of projects in this house I want to do.....Not to mention a wedding to plan!  So I still have plenty of things to do...:)

A Summary of Our Summer

This summer started off pretty happily with the purchase of this piece of property in Steinhachee, Florida. We have been looking for years for a piece of property since we go many times every year. All the property was pretty pricey. But I wrote to the man that owned a piece next to my parents get away home and he said he would sell it to us. He offered it way cheaper than we could believe.
As I mentioned before my daughter got engaged and the date is February 15, 2014.

Levi did lots of fishing...

My nephew got baptized in our pool..... This was a happy day.

Although I haven't done very much shopping this summer, I did find a few good things at goodwill. I got this trash can and it was plain. I put a waterslide decal on it and it is going in my laundry room with all of my dressforms.

I found this beautiful comforter at goodwill as well. I plan on using it when my daughter is married and I redo her room into a guest room.

You all know my weekness for old books.... and I found two of these vintage books at good will.

Uncle Authors Bible Book. It has copyrights from 1953.
Lovely!

This has been a strange summer in many ways. With such a mixture of good and bad. We have had near death experiences in the family as well as an actual death.... We have been reminded of the shortness of life.....And you only have one life....We were reminded to live life accordingly....God first, family second, yourself last....that's a little saying we learned at church years ago. And I am reminded that people are the most important thing of all. Hug somebody you love and remind them what they mean to you.

XOXO,
Amy Jo

A Very Sad Time

Please pray for my nephews at this time. There Dad has passed away in a freak accident. It has left us all in shock and sadness..... and it leaves you to wonder how does a boy say good bye to his father?

This post is dedicated to you Brian Vickers who was like a real brother, not just an in-law.  You were a great father.... and you are always with us when we look at your two boys. I know they were your ultimate pride and joy....
