What I Wore 2019 Part 2

Happy Monday!! I decided to get back to updating the tiny neglected blog. So I’ll get to it. This was a dress I got from Stitch Fix and paired with a Loft sweater. I wore this for my birthday dinner. My 29th Birthday dinner. What you don’t believe me?

I told you!! The waiter obviously thought this was funny. I told him he was my favorite waiter of all time.

This beautiful blazer I got at an antique mall. It’s vintage and I really love it! I wore it to church.

This over sweater is from ModCloth. I got it on clearance and I will definitely wear it again this spring.

A friend from Instagram sent me these lovely earrings as a gift. They are handmade.

Another Lularoe dress. I’m telling you they are the best!

This dress is from Amazon. They are really inexpensive and comfortable. I think they are around $25 The kimono is from?? You guessed it. Lularoe 💕

A bright spring dress from ModCloth. Another clearance sell.

Another Lularoe... I guess I’m obsessed.

The Cuff is from Mothercuffer. I wear a lot of cuffs. I love words and I think they are pretty special since they are handmade.

This is a Lily Pulitzer skirt and Chico’s chambray top.

And believe it or not that was all of the outfit pictures I took for 2019. I wore a lot more pants this year and I have realized that mostly they are very uninspiring to me. I love dresses and skirts, but mostly skirts. And truly maxi skirts. My legs are not fabulous and I really don’t like showing them off.  I will continue tweaking what I love this year and finding what I feel is best for me as I continue on. I’ll keep you all updated on my not so mainstream clothing journey. If I don’t like it after I wear it, I give it away or sell it to the consignment shop. So some things you have seen may already be history. Others I’ll try to rewear and find ways to use them that make me happy. If they don’t work out it’s no love loss for me I try to get the item to someone who will love it.

XOXO

Good Girls Don't Have to Dress Bad...

I saw this book recommended somewhere and I don't remember where. I decided to buy it and I have to say it is really good! The Author Shari Braendel teaches you about body type and dressing for your type. She also teaches about dressing for your color type... Since I am already a fan of Color Me Beautiful this was right up my alley. The book is an easy read and she gives a lot of good advice. I have ordered color swatches from her website. They are on a key ring and it will make it super simple to shop for my self. You can take a free color analysis test on her website and she helps you figure out what colors are best for you. This is a direct link to her sight. When you order the color swatch you have the option of sending your picture in so she can make sure you have chosen correctly.

I have been at work getting rid of some clothes that I know do not look good on me. Also I have been busy looking for accessories. She says it is very important to do this. I already love junk I mean costume jewelry so this is the direction I am going in. This bracelet set my friend Heather gave me...right off of her own wrist. I told her I liked it and she insisted I take it....wasn't that sweet?

I found this Betsey Johnson bracelet at Plato's Closet. That is a consignment shop that is very popular here in Florida.

This little set came from Kohl's. I like the funky colors and I thought it would work as a pop of color.

I love this simple necklace. It also came from Plato's. This is the way to buy jewelry...because it is a fraction of the cost of new.

Lastly is the beautiful blouse and bracelet I got at...you guessed it Plato's. It is really hard for me to give up the spring colors for my self. They are so beautiful to me. I am thankful I can where white and off white...(they are in my color palate)  Because I have been having so much fun with this I thought I would share all of this info with all of you lovelies.  I will show you my progress in another post soon. I am waiting on my color swatches and then I will be clearing out and reevaluating.

Until Next Time,

Making Peace With Your Body

Scripture teaches us that our bodies are temples of God--- the place where the Holy Spirit resides (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). The Bible also clearly emphasizes that the human body is a temporary tent that we will cast off at the point of physical death (2 Corinthians 5 1-5). Someday we will receive a brand new shape and form...Until then, it is our responsibility to honor what Paul aptly described as our "perishable", "weak", "natural" bodies by viewing them from a balanced biblical perspective rather than from the narrow-minded approach of our culture.

Something beautiful happens when a woman lets go of the fear, shame, and anxiety she feels about the way she looks and accepts her body, rich with imperfection, as a gift of God. When she stops despising certain aspects of her appearance---her wide hips, pesky cellulite, double chin, droopy abdomen, small breasts, or bony backside---and smiles at the imperfect reflection in the mirror. When she learns to appreciate her body with the humor and grace God alone can give. When she warmly welcomes her husband with her body.

If we are to be on comfortable terms with our sexuality, we need to make peace with our bodies, including the way we look. Achieving a delicate balance in the way we view our physical form and appearance requires a certain measure of self-acceptance. And as we learn to appreciate our God-given uniqueness with genuine joy and humility, we find a measure of peace about ourselves that the world cannot give us. How we look is no longer a ruling factor of our identity. Who we are in Christ matters to us more. ---Debra Evans
