Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope everyone is with special people this weekend.

Today is Levi's Birthday and he is hunting with his Dad in Georgia. We are having Thanksgiving at my nephew's and all of our family will be there.

A little cold snap has come in and it really puts us in the holiday spirit.

I can't wait for our Turkey and Ham dinner with all of the fixings....

Sweet Potato casserole, and stuffing, and cookies and pies....

Can you tell I'm hungry?

I better get busy and get things ready..... I hope you all are blessed this Thanksgiving and it is a safe holiday.

Barberville Pioneer Settlement

Last week we went on a field trip to a historic pioneer settlement. This was a high school built in the 1800's.

Here is the little country store.

This lady was teaching us about the Indians and she let us try sofkee. An Indian dish that was pretty much like watery cold grits.

Learning about Pottery.

Making his pinch pot.

The goose.

I love this fence.

Petting the goats.

This is the "ant" brothers.....they wanted me to take their picture because they were all bitten by ants and are now "ant" brothers... children.

This is the old train station.

 An adorable historic church.

Do I see a future preacher?

The slave quarters.

They would have used old newspapers to help insulate the walls. I think it was very smart and resourceful.

Old Quilts.

Beautiful...

The simplicity of this apron...blowing in the breeze. I am sure it has many stories to tell of homemaking days gone by.

A quaint little cabin.

Done up in a most homey fashion.

With all of the sweetest and simplest pleasures and comforts of life.

Well that's all folks.... thinks for touring with us...

A Lazy Day at the Park

Off with the shoes.....

Sophia Rose

So thankful for these hardworking hands...

Just like Dad...

Beautiful Spanish Moss

Never to old to play...

Or to young....

Higher, Higher,

Maybe a little to high!

Just a lazy day at the park.

What Have We Done Today?

We shall do much in the years to come,
But what have we done today?
We shall give our gold in a princely sum,
But What have we done today?
We shall lift the heart and dry the tear,
we shall plant a hope in the place of fear,
We shall speak the words of love and cheer,
But what did we speak today?

We shall be so kind in the after while,
But have we been today?
We shall bring to each lonely life a smile,
But have we brought today?
We shall give to truth a grander birth,
And to steadfast faith a deeper worth,
We shall feed the hungering souls of earth,
But whom have we brought today?

We shall reap such joys in the by and by,
But what have we sown today?
We shall build us mansions in the sky,
But what have we built today?
'Tis sweet in the idle dreams to bask:
But here and now, do we our task?
Yet, this is the thing our souls must ask,
What have we done today?

----Nixon Waterman

This is such a beautiful poem and it really causes reflection. What have I done today?

Small Changes and a Sign

I have had these little pot holders for a long time. They have been stuffed in a drawer.... I also had this key holder hanging with no keys hanging on it....so I got the brilliant idea to hang the pot holders on the key holder
. I think they look darling.

This is a side table in the living room... I changed it up a bit...

I just love this lovely lady...

And this adorable vintage rooster.

My mom made this sign for the wedding...you thought it was a sign of things to come didn't you? based on my title. No it is an actual sign. LOL  Didn't she do a fantastic job?

I hope you are all having a blessed week...as you can see nothing major is happening around the home front.  I just thought I would share my day.
