Wonderful Clutter

A great deal of wonderful clutter-- all of it carefully ordered and intimately meaningful to the homemaker. She cares little about the intrinsic value of any of her possessions as long as it's something she loves. --Billy Baldwin

Today I'm off to visit my Aunt. She just moved to a new place. We are also going to Mt. Dora's antique district.... I can't wait. Blessings to you today.

A Wonderfully Ordinary Day for A Homemaker

Today is a wonderfully ordinary day... it is memorial day so every one is home. The weather started off beautiful and clear. Now it is stormy, but I love stormy weather. Something about it makes home feel so cozy. I am washing laundry. I have been trying not to use my dryer at all, instead opting to hang them in the sunshine. Isn't there something lovely about crisp air dried clothing? I have a roast in the oven for this evening. And I chunked up a watermelon for later as well.

In today's busy helter skelter world it is so wonderful just being home. With the cutest little Scottie dog ever under foot and the amazing smell of roast filling the house! Today I am so happy with my God given profession.... Being a homemaker.

Since I only had two comments on my little give away I would like to send you both a few products. Please email me your address and I will mail you your prize...:) Rebecca L. and Laura @ Decor to adore

A Few of My Favorite Products and a Give Away

I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite Products with you. I love finding new products that are healthier for me. One of the best blessings about living in America is the bounty that is so easily accessible. I live on the outskirts of the city and it is very easy to shop at numerous grocery stores. Publix being my absolute favorite. The first product I would like to show you is Pacific Natural Foods almond milk. I have always loved milk, but over the last couple of years I have become intolerant of it. So in my quest for a replacement I tried a lot of different "milks" including raw milk, rice milk, soy milk, coconut milk, and almond milk. Coconut and almond are my favorite. All brands are not created equal. This almond milk is creamy and delicious. If you are used to regular milk it will take some getting used to, but once you do you won't want to go with out it.

Next is SunButter... Yum. If you like sunflower seeds you will love them ground up and spread on a banana... my favorite way to eat this. Another favorite snack for my whole family are Lara Bars. The Biggest Loser always recommends them because the ingredient list is so pure. Fruit and Nuts that's it. Unless you get the chocolate ones. (I do) Our two favorite flavors are coconut cream pie and peanut butter chocolate chip.

O.K. if you haven't tried chicken sausage, you must. I love it. Being from the south that is saying a lot. Every one in the south loves their bacon and sausage. Pork of course. But when I tried this I was pleasantly surprised. It is so good. You can cut it up and saute it in a little olive oil and it is fab! I usually make it for lunch and add a salad or squash.

If you wear glasses, as I do, these are awesome. No more looking around for a tissue to wipe your glasses with. Or using the closest persons clothing he he. That's what I normally did until I found these. They come in little packs so you can throw a few in your purse. Awesome!

Both of these products are from Alba Botanical. They have none of the bad stuff in them. They are all natural and smell so good! The shave cream reminds me of the beach every time I use it.  The conditioner does not weigh your hair down at all. I really like their stuff.

Lest I bore you to tears this is the last product. South of France Shea Butter liquid soap. Again all natural, it smells light and clean. This soap is not drying at all, it leaves your hands soft.  If you would like to try some of  these products, I am going to give away some of these items to one lucky person! All you have to do is leave a comment at the bottom, and on Memorial Day I will draw a name. So leave me a comment.... I hope you win!

Homemaking

Being a full time wife and mother - is not a destructive drought of usefulness but an overflowing oasis of opportunity. It is not a dreary cell to contain one's talents and skills but a brilliant catalyst to channel creativity and energies into meaningful work; it is not a rope for binding one's productivity in the market place, but reins for guiding one's posterity in the home; it is not oppressive restraint of intellectual prowess for community, but a release of wise instruction to your own household; it is not a bitter assignment of inferiority to your person, but the bright assurance of the ingenuity of God's plan for the complementarity of the sexes, especially as worked out in God's plan for marriage; it is neither limitation of gifts available nor stinginess in distributing the benefits of those gifts, but rather the multiplication of a mother's legacy to the generations to come and  the generous bestowal of all God meant a mother to give to those entrusted to her care. -- Dorothy Patterson

Dining Room

I love the new fabric. It has changed the look of the dining room. Isn't it great how little changes can freshen your whole room.

That is the hat stand I got at the Fancy Flea, from the Polka Dot Closet. I also got the little shelf with the salt and Pepper shakers on it from her several years ago.

I love sitting in the dining room... It is so comfortable and happy to me. This is where I sit and type most days. I have a desk but, I don't like it near as much. I can see out the window from this spot.

I got the chalk rose painting several months ago. I tried it in various spots through out the house, but this is where I liked it best. I hope you enjoyed are very short tour....Have a blessed Tuesday!

I have shown my dining room before... but I have made a few little changes. The first  being recovering the dining chairs.  I had a checked fabric on them. Then I recovered them in vintage bark cloth that I found on ebay. They were actually curtains. Now they have a new life.

Feminine Friday

So here it is another wonderful Friday... I have been so busy as of late. We have been pushing forward trying to get done with school...I want to take at least a few weeks off this summer...Wouldn't that be nice? Once again I am doing a post on what I have been wearing. Levi took the pictures and they are what they are.  So overlook the weird faces and "different" poses...ha ha. I got this skirt and blouse at Sears. Both of them were a little large on me, so I took them in a bit. This is a very cool and comfortable outfit.

I love all of the bright colors that are out this year. I have to admit it has been hard to resist buying :)  I got the black and white top at Dress Barn as well as the over sweater. The skirt I got for $1.00 at a garage sale... That is a bargain.

This dress and sweater are from Dress Barn as well... I know I'm addicted.

This top I got at the same garage sale as the denim skirt... you guessed it  a dollar... The skirt I have had for 3 or 4 years and I bought it at TJ Maxx.

This is a different denim skirt (I'm telling you I have many) I bought it on Ebay. The blouse was another Ebay find. Plus my broken china necklace (LOVE) Are you starting to see a trend with me? I just can't get enough denim. It is the perfect material in my book. I even had a denim couch once. Well ladies that is another week in feminine attire...

Mother's Day Weekend

For mother's day we went camping at Jetty Park, in Cocoa Beach Florida. My daughter bought me this lovely bouquet of flowers.

We spent the weekend with my husbands mom at the campground. We had a very relaxing time.

It was very windy and low humidity. It actually felt a little cold to this Florida girl.

Beautiful sandy beaches....

Everyone watching a movie while I cook breakfast.

We watched the ships go out of the port...

I can't believe the size of these ships.

While we were waiting for the ships to go out the kids were skateboarding. This is Ms. Rose my niece. That's what I call her..

Tristan my nephew.

Levi.. we had so much fun. It was a wonderful weekend... I know it is a little late in the week to post about the weekend. I have been so busy as of late. I am playing catch up on everything... You know how that goes.:)

Blessings,
Amy Jo

A Little Extra Sunshine for Sunny Skies

Little Suzy Homemaker surprised me with the sunshine award! Thank you so much Suzy! With the award you have to answer 10 questions about yourself and then pass it to 5 other bloggers.... So here goes.

  1. Favorite color: My favorite color is Pink. Pink is a very happy, sweet color. It always reminds me of Easter. I also like green and yellow a lot. But truthfully I think there isn't to many colors that I don't like.
  2. Favorite Number: I have never put much thought into this, but I'm gonna go with 7 since that is the perfect number in the Bible.
  3. Favorite Animal: I will have to go with a dog.... out of all of the animals I think they are the most loyal and loving.
  4. Non-Alcoholic Drink: Well my number one choice for a drink is water... I know boring right? But, if I am out and going to get something other than water, I'll have a Root Beer Please.
  5. Facebook or Twitter: I have neither but, I would have to say Facebook.
  6. What is my Passion? Well, other than my family... I would say antiquing. I love going out to look for a treasure and then actually finding one. It's  a sickness really.LOL
  7. Receiving or Giving: Giving. I love to give. Especially when I know their is a need.. It is so fun.
  8. Favorite Pattern: Florals. I love, love, love them.
  9. Favorite day of the week: Well Probably Saturday. It is the day I can  let things go a bit. My husband usually takes us to do something. It is always a nice break from the day to day routine.
  10. Flower:  ROSES!!! I love roses.... I also love old paintings of Mums. Although I have never had any real ones.
I will share the award in a later post.... as I am running out of time today! So I will leave you with this...

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all.... but especially to my Mother. Mom, thank you for being not just my mother but my friend.  You have been a wonderful example of what a christian woman should be...showing your three children what it means to stay true in good times and bad..when others fall apart and walk away, you  forgive and keep looking forward. Making sure our family stayed together no matter what the cost to you. It took growing up and raising my own children to see the many sacrifices you made. I want you to know what it means to have had a mother like you.  I love you.

My Little Obsession With Imperfect Dishes

I have a love of imperfect, old dishes that most people probably wouldn't take a second glance at.

My daughter has asked me before, " Don't we have any dishes that aren't chipped or crazed?"  Me " I doubt it." :) What fun would that be.
Anyone can buy new dishes.... Not anyone can buy the exact old dish that you might find while treasure hunting ... Insert daughter rolling  eyes...
Besides, what could be prettier than this!
Good Will for just a few cents...
This whole stack of Bavaria china.... $20.00!
That is just a little over 3.00 a plate. But who's counting...
Most of these little beauties were gifts.... So tell me, what dishes do you collect?
