Georgia Trip

Over the weekend we went to Georgia to bury the ashes of my Grandmother. She has been gone 3 years now, and it just now worked out where everyone could get together. This is my Mom (middle) and her older and younger sister. This is the grave of my great-grandparents. Their grandparents.

My sister and I got into the picture as well.

This is my Mom and Dad in front of the old church. They have a new building now. All of my mothers people are buried in the Red Hill church cemetery.

The grave of a two year old. It reads "weep not papa and mama for me for I am waiting in glory for thee."

I love reading the epitaphs on grave stones.

Great- great grandmother.

She was a full blooded Cherokee Indian.

great-great grandfather.

This was their son's grave.

We came across this abandoned house. So we did a little snooping around.

The weeds were tall.

The wisteria was taking over.

But, the house was blessed. This was on the window pane. : May your heart be filled with joy. May your cares melt away, may you find comfort within these walls may your night be turned to day; May God heal the broken places that have caused your heart to grieve, May God comfort you in your sorrows and give you strength to believe; May God always go before you and open the doors he'd have you walk through, may he also shut the doors that would keep you from being true; May He show you through his spirit that his love is always near, may he speak peace to the storms of your life, may he calm your every fear. May you find your way from the wilderness to the abundance of Canaan land. May your heart be forever changed having been touched by the masters hand.

Through the window pane.

County Courthouse.

Beautiful old doors.

Lastly we kept seeing this strange truck around town. So when it was at the Subway I pulled over and took a few pictures.

Yes! those are real animal skins! You could smell the solution they use to tan the hides from 10 feet away.

He even has an outhouse! You never know what you will see in the back woods of Georgia!

I can't believe it is fall. It is in the 90's  here in Florida. But maybe we will see a little coolness soon. May God bless this Autumn season!

Sea World

Last Saturday my sister and I took our two youngest children to Sea World. We have  year round passes, so we go as often as we are able. If you are a Florida Resident you can buy a one day pass and get the rest of the year for free.

This is inside the shark encounter.

Aren't these manatees sweet?

This sting-ray was like a little dog. It stayed there begging to be pet. And as long at they pet him he stayed.

Flamingos

These birds are so funny! How would you like to sleep like this?

I have been busy baking and cleaning and

Sewing and schooling. There is never a dull moment right now. This weekend My sister, Aunt, and I are taking a road trip to Georgia. We will be meeting my parents and my other Aunt there. I know it is going to be a lot of fun!  Also today is my husbands birthday and I want to wish him a Happy, Happy, Birthday! Today I will be doing more baking and cooking for his birthday dinner.

Blessings,
Amy Jo

Necessary Accomplishment

There is one very excellent, necessary accomplishment that no one should be without, for it is a help to rich and poor, and the comfort of families depends upon it. This fine talent (home keeping) is neglected nowadays and is a sad mistake... It is the most beautiful as well as useful of all arts... not so romantic, perhaps, as singing , writing, or teaching, but one that makes many people happy and comfortable, and home the sweetest place in the world.

Granny Sweater, And Pinterest Ideas

I found this granny chic sweater for $4.00. I think it will be comfy for fall.

I added one of my pins to it...

I don't know if pinterest is good for me or bad for me. LOL I found this on pinterest.

And now I own it.... It was on etsy. I love the images and I have been wanting a new cover for my little tabletop ironing board.

I also saw this idea on etsy. You buy the plastic mats at target and cut them to fit and line the refrigerator.

Now when something is spilled you just take out the mat and wipe.... They have all kinds of colors but these were the only ones that would go in my kitchen. The red ones that are on pinterest are actually on clearance sale right now. So this is why I'm not sure if Pinterest is good for me. It gives me so many ideas... My mind is in a whirl with possibilities.

Goodwill Treasures

Friday morning I took a little ride to our Goodwill.... And it seemed at every turn I found something that I had to have.... In the furniture section I found this lovely little antique rocker.

The upholstery is in perfect condition. Someone had decoupaged these Victorian images on the back. I am not sure if I will keep them.  But they are cute. This chair is very heavy for a rocker this size.

I found these two pillows for the front porch. I love finding cheap pillows for the porch that way when they ruin I am not upset.

I found this little basket/cart and I think it would be lovely with a fern or some magazines in it. It may be put on the porch as well. And lastly this really pretty sheet with roses all over it. Now I don't need a sheet, I can assure you of that. There is just something about sheets and pillowcases, and I guess all linens really, that draw me to them and they always come home with me. I plan on doing something with them when I have the time. Someday...

I hope your Monday is blessed,
Amy Jo
