Feminine Friday

On this feminine Friday I would like to show you a dress I bought at goodwill months ago.
It is actually a target dress by Mossimo. It is made of very soft and jersey like material. I really like the comfort of this dress.
Yesterday I decided to swing into goodwill (my favorite place to shop) and I found this skirt and blouse. The shirt is once again a Target brand and the skirt is an Old Navy. I am trying to find some fall and winter skirts and sweaters. I know the look I want, but am finding it very hard to find. I want really long skirts and long sleeve blouses or sweaters. I like the prairie or Edwardian look for fall and winter. I am on a mission!  Hopefully I will find it.
I found these two sweaters as well.
This is the book shelf that sits by my desk. It has all of my favorite  books that I like to pick up and look back at.
They are mostly homemaking and my christian books. I have a lot more books, but these are the ones I always seem to want to glance back at.

This is my inspiration board. All these pictures and cards I love to look at. So I decided to set them out so I could see them all the time. Well,  I hope you have a fabulously feminine Friday!

Blessings,

The Brevard Zoo

On Tuesday we went to the zoo, they were having $2.00 Tuesdays for the month of September. I could not believe what their prices had gone up to, had it not been Tuesday we would have paid close to $20.00 a person! To get into a zoo that seems costly. Never the less we got in at a great price and here are a few of the pictures....

This is Levi, Rachel, and Colton.
This was our favorite part feeding all of the birds.
This bird flew onto Levi and decided to crawl up his back, he was freaking out a little.. I thought this was extremely funny... so all I could do was laugh.
This is a cucca barra, as far as I could tell he was not eating gum drops. LOL
This butterfly had just left its cocoon and had not even flown yet.
This little baby monkey was soooooo cute. His mother was sleeping and he just bounced around on her and watched all the people.
The petting zoo was last and they had these alpacas, they are like small Lamas. We just finished a book all about Lamas so it was really neat to get to pet them.

Blessings,
Amy Jo

A Busy Day

Today has been a very busy day and it isn't over yet! We have been schooling....
and doing lots of laundry. It was absolutely beautiful outside. The perfect day for line drying all the wash.
And then there was this montrocity, I know the proverbs 31 woman would not let her pantry look this way! So I decided to take everything out and reorganize it all.  First I wiped down all of the shelving and dried it all.
Then I added it all back in. We will see how long it stays organized.?. You know I don't know how I would work and do all that I need to get done in a day. I am so thankful to the Lord that my husband allows me to stay home and care for our family. What a blessing.

Blessings to you all,
Amy Jo

It Is Good To Be Cookin' Again

This weekend we were gone all weekend, and we ate out most of our meals. After eating out two or three meals in a row, not only does it get very expensive, but it also just does not taste as good as home cookin'. So as soon as we were back in town, my husband and I went and picked up chicken breasts.
I just garlic salt and pepper them and cook them in olive oil.
Then I whipped up some cornbread and put it in the oven.
And I cooked my favorite bean, black-eyed peas. Yes I am truly from the South Ha Ha!
We set a simple table for our family nothing fancy.
Now it is time to sit down, to this humble meal. Add sweet tea and you have a delicious meal that is cooked in no time and the best part is, it only cost about $5.00 to make this meal. I hope all of you had a great weekend, I know we did, but it sure is good to be cookin' again!

Blessings,

Feminine Friday

For this friday I thought I would show my daughter in the kitchen preparing meat. It is a deer shoulder that we got from my husbands, cousin.

This is not a very fun job, but Savanah was willing to do it. It is so nice having a daughter at home. She helps me with Levi's school and with cleaning the house, and making dinner. It is great!

I would also like to thank every one for the well wishes yesterday, some days you just need them.  But today is another day!  We are going out of town, for the opening of hunting season, now this is not my favorite season, but my husband and son love it. So, Savanah and I are going to endure ha ha!  I hope you all have a fabulously feminine friday...

Blessings to you all,
Amy Jo

In Loving Memory

Six years ago today my brother passed away, and I don't think it would be right not to mention him. Although it is still very painful.... When some one dies it truly is as if a piece of you dies. Gone forever.... at least on this side of heaven. I also don't think it would be right not to give praise to God for the wonderful years that can never be replaced. Sherman I think of you every day, it might be something you said or your laugh I sometimes think I hear, I can see you in my minds eye always there never changing. You make heaven seem that much sweeter. I love you and miss you.

God's Word Never Returns Void

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. --Isaiah 54:10-11

Feminine Friday

On this Fabulously Feminine Friday, I would like to share a skirt I got at Dress Barn on clearance sale for under $20.00. The shirt is a thrift store find. I used a crimper to crimp my hair for a little change....
I went to do my grocery shopping and I found this magazine... I admit I have an addiction for decorating magazines, I own a LOT of them. I can barely stand to part with them. This one was a little different from what I have been seeing lately.
The pictures are really gorgeous.
If you like vintage decorating, you will love this magazine. Well I hope you all are having a fabulous Friday, We have been cleaning and schooling and just having a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Amy Jo

A Mere Apprentice

There are many who want me to tell them the secret ways of becoming perfect and I can only tell them that the sole secret is a hearty love of God, and the only way of attaining that love is by loving. You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working; and just so you learn to love God and man by loving. Begin as a mere apprentice and the very power of love will lead you on to become a master of the art. ---St. Francis of Sales

My Mom's Salt and Pepper Collection

I thought I would share my Mom's large, mostly vintage salt and pepper collection... I think you will enjoy seeing it.

I could not get them in the order I wanted them... so they are more random... these are google eyed indians.

This is over mom's computer.

Aren't these the cutest little pigs!

Also in mom's office area....

I am assuming these are 1950's they are so pretty...

This is the window in the eat in kitchen. She has a collection of the wooden salt and peppers on the sill. She made these curtains out of dish towels... aren't they cute?

This is some of the baby prints she has collected aren't they darling...why don't they depict children like this anymore?

Some of her chefs....

I love this set it reminds me of cracker jacks....

Cute little crows...

This is the little table in mom's kitchen it is very cottage style and I think it is adorable...

Some little girls smelling the flowers...

With this many salt and peppers you need a cleaning lady, now don't you!

Still dusting!!

Aren't these sparkled eyed babies adorable?

These are so much fun for my mom to collect. She is a member of salt and pepper clubs and everything. I did not know this until I went to take the pictures.. She's been keeping secrets.. I hoped you enjoyed looking at these nostalgic little cuties...
